PPSE staff will continue to telework for an undetermined time. Each staff member has full access to systems that will allow all work to be completed without interruption. For quicker service to your questions, email is the preferred  method of communication, however, voice mails will be retrieved a few times per day.

SOUTHWEST UNIVERSITY OF VISUAL ARTS (SUVA) - SCHOOL CLOSURE INFORMATION


The State Board was notified on Thursday, November 12, 2020 that Southwest University of Visual Arts (SUVA) will cease operations on Friday, December 18, 2020. State Board staff, along with representatives from Veterans Administration and the United States Department of Education will be hosting information sessions for students shortly. Please check back frequently for updates.

Agency Mission

To protect the health, safety and welfare of Arizona citizens by regulating private postsecondary educational institutions and providing services to their students.


Agency Goals

To ensure legal operations, ethical practices and quality education in the private postsecondary sector.
  • Maintain effective and efficient regulation of the private postsecondary educational institutions.
  • To assist those injured by private postsecondary educational institutions.
  • To collect or secure monies sufficient to provide for student financial restitution.  To provide financial restitution, in a timely manner, to students financially injured as a result of a school closure
  • To provide student educational records in a timely manner.

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.02(A)(1)(a), the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education states (“State Board”) that all notices of all meetings and committee meetings of the State Board will be posted at the office of the State Board, 1740 West Adams Street, Suite 3008, Phoenix, AZ 85007. The Board Office Service Window is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except for legal holidays. The Agenda for all of the meetings will be posted on the State Board’s website: www.azppse.gov indicating the time and location of the meetings.
